Comscore:India World's 7th Largest Internet Market grows 11.2% from May to Dec 2008

Comscore has reported that total global Internet audience (age 15 and older from home and work computers) has surpassed 1 billion visitors in December 2008, based on data from the comScore World Metrix audience measurement service. Comscore also reports that India has 32 million internet using population which is 3.2% of world population and has grown at a rate of 11.12% from Comscore's May stats. Some of the other interesting stats are that Google with 77% of worldwide share is the highest used internet site followed by Microsoft and Yahoo sites. The region wise break up of the stats are as follows

Worldwide Internet Audience

• Asia Pacific: 416 million (41.3%)
• Europe: 283 million (28.0%)
• North America: 185 million (18.4%)
• Latin America: 75 million (7.4%)
• Middle East & Africa: 49 million (4.8%)
