I had an interesting experience listening to A.T.Kearney consultants giving a talk on Globalization in IIM Lucknow. Now in yesterday's article on Infosys,Wipro,TCS outsourcing work to other countries which was a news which came through New York Times I had thought that it was a usual but a short-term strategic move from these companies. But as the A.T.Kearney guys told us it seems that most of the businesses in Indian BPO and software sector are moving towards globalization with a need for being closer to their clients and being able to offer them end to end solutions thus getting more out of their clients.Interestingly they were also of the view that most of the Indian globalization is a combination of opportunistic moves rather than a great tactical moves.Well this made me realize that what seemed a PR exercise by Indian IT firms is actually a move by these firms is actually a move to go closer to the customers and thus taking a step to become more global though i still find it hard to figure out why they keep focussing on getting low skills employees at low cost and training them and again risk losing them because of lower salaries
