Its makeover season for Indian media websites with the craze for web2.0 after IBNlive,NDTV and Indiatimes its now the turn of MTVIndia.MTV India has recently decided to reposition itself and along with brand new shows and VJ it has also decide to revamp its website. As part of its repositioning strategy, MTV India is aiming to personalise its offerings conveyed through a fresh tagline My MTV and has dumped its old tagline of MTV enjoy. It has also relaunched its website MTVIndia.com to showcase usewhich has its own Blog ,a my logo section allowing users to design their own MTV logo ,a my pov section allowing people to give their feedback and other sections which are meant to involve the users. This came after an extensive research conducted by MTV into today’s youth, their interests, passions and above all their expectations from MTV.
Despite this there are still several weaknesses in their website firstly the website is too graphic intensive and takes ages to load and the pov section is kinda weird feels like a chat but hard to figure out for wat purpose it has been designed .The blog idea is good gives an insight into MTV but more user friendly features like forums are required and several of the good features need to be retained from the old MTV website which is still available. Its hard to believe that a channel as youth focused as MTV is still to come out with a proper youth focussed site and despite the relaunch i still feel some more improvements are required.
This repositioning is part of a plan by parent Viacom, which also owns English music channel VH1 and children’s channel Nickelodeon, to revamp its channels following its tie-up with broadcast house TV18
